This song was one of the most popular songs produced in ZImbabwe due to its lyrical content. When I first began to sing, dance and play the Mbira to Zimbabwean audiences, people were amazed to find that the man they heard singing their songs on the radio was white. In response to their astonishment I would sing, "How can you be so surprised? Is it so astounding to see me, your brother, playing the drum, the Mbira, and singing in Shona? Are we colors before we are human?"
